The rumors of my disappearance...

...are not true.  Just been busy with other things.  But piracy is still a part of my gaming life.  And, since I noticed it today, seems this little blog has passed 13,000 views.  No great shakes compared to some, but not too shabby.  Keep enjoying and when I can I will post something new more interesting than this minor missive.

Thought I'd Abandoned You, Did You?

Well, no, I haven't.  Just recently, courtesy of a sale, I ordered up some more pirate figures - and need to order a few more packs from a different supplier to finalize the acquisitions - from Rebel Minis.  And with these new additions to my collection, I have now finalized the organization of my pirates and their opponents.  Going forward, I've put together a six player game (that can quite easily accommodate up to twelve players) that will be a land based event with one large town defended against raiding pirates.  All of those cool ships are going to be relegated to table decorations - though the option of ship-to-ship actions doesn't go away.  I just want to make my "Base Pirate Event" a land warfare affair.

There is also the important change of adapting a published set of rules for my games rather than trying to create my own.  That is an option fraught with a diverse range of challenges.  So, I've settled on using Rank and File (from Crusader Publishing) as my rules of choice.  And not just for pirates, neither, but for just about everything I own.  Might be bit of a challenge to adapt to Viking era and Robin Hood, but not so much for my Four And A Half Musketeers since that isn't going to be a one-on-one swashbuckling event.

Not sure when I'll get the new figures painted or the hundred figures already in process that weren't ready in time for the previous outings, but they will get done.  This year my primary focus is on getting my French and Indian war figures 100% done.  Big challenge.  Biggest distraction is going to be my American Revolution collection.  That last is my favorite period and it sort of 'knocked me upside the head' that I really need to get it into shape for gaming.  Or at least a small portion of it.  Will take a long time to get that collection complete and fully on the table, even with highly focused effort.  Actually, doubt it will ever be 'fully' on the table since it is designed to cover the northern, main army, and southern theaters of that conflict - and provide for a rich and diverse fictional campaign based on history but adjusted for unpredictability.

Too many periods, too many figures, not enough time!

(oh, the new organization will be posted under the pirate tab on my Main Blog, SteepleChasing Zebras - but not right now, chores beckon)

Photos? Yes. But where? See below.

Here is the link to my other blog where you can find a post on the front page with lots and lots of photos - including many of my two pirate games:

The Marooned Captain's Rescue

I have settled on my scenario basics for my all sea game on Saturday at the ConQuest Avalon convention but weeks away now.  It will only use 8 ships divided between pirates and two nations.  And they'll all be hunting for an infamous pirate captain who was marooned in hopes of getting him to reveal the location of the fabled treasure he is rumored to have buried.  Hope to get photos of the game to post here.  Doubtful, in the extreme, I will have time to add any figures in because of The Great Distraction.

However!  That distraction is quite worthy of your notice.  I am working to enclose our covered patio and will have a space for a permanently setup game table at 5' x 12'.  Also means my car will get to dwell within the garage over winter.  A needed thing.

Land Ho!

That is my Sunday game at ConQuest Avalon, an all land game where all, or at least a lot, of those painted figures will get to strut there stuff.  Looking forward to seeing how that works out.  And I'm not providing any advanced intelligence regarding that game.

Avast there, you lubbers, hoist the main brace, we're in for a blow, sure!

November 2nd and November 3rd, 2013

For those of you in and about the greater Sacramento region, I am hoping to stage one or two more variations of my giant pirate game at the brand new ConQuest Avalon Convention that will occur from November 1st through November 3rd.  I do hope to add some figures to the mix that didn't make into the previous events.  I might even add some more planned purchases.  Depends on time availability.  Stay tuned for more information as it develops.

An opinion, nothing more.

The folks at r-e-f-e-r-e-r.com are bunch of mindless morons!  Please tell this to everyone on the planet.  Everyone.  But only if you share the same opinion that I do.  What a bunch of i-d-i-o-t-s!

Sorry to those of you who actually enjoy this site but these creeps are spiking the stats that help me know whether or not to keep the site up or take it down.  The web, for all the good things it allows, also lets those with criminal intent (not saying about above listed doofuses) to try harder.  And it puts the megaphone in the hands of some loud mouthed anus-orificed folk.  And its always twenty or thirty of dip-manures shouting nonsense at once.  What a lot of banal nothingness.

But, hey, at least you know I'm still here and minding the "store."  Happy Pirate Gaming to those of you who actually belong here.

Congratulations!

To who, I have no idea.  But someone in the last day brought the viewer total to 10,000 and now it's above that number.  Or at least there have been that many page views.  Nice to know there is steady traffic here.  Must have put a few things of interest.

Were the budget in different shape, I would have placed an order during Rebel Minis recent spring sale.  Oh, well.  Can't be spending money needed for bills on toys.  All that will improve soon.

Hope you all keep enjoying what you find here.  There are still some things to finish painting.  And I haven't forgotten about someday posting some rules here but they need a little tweeking and I need some serious time to do what needs to be done to make that happen.  Not soon, but eventually.
In company with 10,000 views, this makes the 100th post.  Have no idea what that means.

Now get off your computer and go hook up with a real live friend and play with some miniatures.  Or at least paint some!
